GMAT - My Typical Syllabus and Study materials

I have started again with my prep for gmat and came up with the materials to be covered. Below is my detailed syllabus -

Quants:
- Manhattan Books ( for 4 topics), OG Series, GMAT prep bank - with 175 + 75, 199 and 99 Questions collection ( didn't work on ths in my prev attempt)

Verbal:
SC
- OG Series, Manhattan SC, Adam Johns Notes, Psahil, Spidey Notes, GMAT Prep - 175 ques bank

CR
- CR Bible, OG Series, LSAT Logical Questions for practice

RC
- Manhattan Edition ( not so gr8), few RC Tips, OG Series, LSAT Practice Question ( didn't work on it n my prev attempt)

FLT
- MGMAT Series - 6 tests
- GMAT Prep - 2 + 2

With the above, yet my score was not great as expected - not even to the mark. Am i missing something ???.... Am i lagging somwhere or lacking sumthing... The biggest prob i had is, either in CR or in SC, i was always confused b/w 2 choices and was not confident on my correct ans. That would be the biggest problem, may be i am not strong on the concepts.. may be more revision.. Phew !!! With all this said, started with my prep again and looking for real gmat very soon for 3rd time - i really wish that would be my last attempt :) :) ...

  1. Hey the material looks neat...
Have you tried maintaining an exhaustive error log.. It helps a lot..
Observe and record all minute details of errors...
    It will certainly help...
    All the best...

  2. Practice, review, and practice is the key. In SC, read OG explanations again and again with, n you will start getting the feel that which kind of answers are correct; and you could then apply your rules faster enough.

In CR, its just understanding the type of questions and apply the trick you ve learned or the reasonsing you have.

Other than that you are good. Practice maths a little more. Seems the standard for maths is raised by GMAT.

And also, the spelling of Adam Johns above is incorrect ;-)

  4. Thanks A !!. Yes your technic of SC - Reading thro the explanation worked for me to some xtent. So guess, I would follow the same. CR, thought its my strength. But something messing up. Will figure it out. Thanks for all your support !!

Adam Johns - after all Proper Noun huh.. So misspelling it may not be wrong but will correct the same next time though :)

  5. Hi S-AK,

We would suggest sticking to limited material but practicing exhaustively. There is one thing that most people neglect is reading ALL the answers' explanation in the OG.

    1. When you mark a question incorrect, read the explanation of why that answer was incorrect. In addition, also read why other options are incorrect.

    2. When you correctly mark an answer, many students do not read through the explanation. But the reason that you have marked that answer may not be the right reason, always. So it is advisable to read through the explanation for all questions and redo all of them after 1 week's gap.

    All the best,
